All of our cats are tested for FeLV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), vaccinated, and spayed/neutered at an appropriate age. Regardless of how a cat comes to us, while in our care they receive food, shelter, daily handling and attention, as well as vet care when needed.
Most of our cats are in foster homes, living with our volunteers, rescuers, or members of the public who have generously offered to provide temporary sanctuary for a cat in need. This helps us learn the personalities of thecats we rescue, so we can work with you to select the cat who might be the best match for you and your home environment.
A sampling of our cats are at our adoption center, where they remain until, if not adopted within a period of time, they are rotated back into foster care. Most of our cats in foster care are living with other cats. Cats tend to getlonely without the company of another animal, especially if their person is away long hours of the day. We try to place cats who enjoy the company of other cats in a home where there is feline companionship. But, we do have manycats who would be happiest to be the only cat in your life!
Kittens are most in need of animal companionship. Not only do they play together, groom each other, and sleep together, but a kitten is also less likely to engage in biting or destructive behaviors if the kitten has an animal companion to roughhouse and play with. With rare exceptions, we do not adopt out a kitten to be the only animal in the home.
To adopt a cat, you will meet with an adoption representative to discuss your interest in adopting and, upon approval of your application; an adoption contract will be signed by both you and KittyKind.
If things dont work out We will ALWAYS take our cats back FOR ANY REASON. We ask, of course, that you think seriously about the commitment involved in adopting a cat and we hope that it is a long-term commitment.
If you cannot keep your cat, you should notify us IMMEDIATELY, so that we can either assist you in re-homing your cat or arrange to have the cat returned to us. DO NOT GIVE THE CAT AWAY or bring the cat to any other shelter, where they might be euthanized or not properly cared for. Just call us and we will take the cat back, and ask for sufficient notice to do so.
Come visit us! Petco is generously allowing KittyKind, Inc to show cats and kittens for adoptionin the store. KittyKind is an all-volunteer group. We have no paid staff. We all must work regular jobs to support ourselves and the cats so we cannot be at Petco all the time. But a KittyKind representative is always at Petco during the following times:
